The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has proposed to construct nearly 2,200 more public toilets by 2015. The proposal includes separate public toilets for women and men on a ‘pay-and-use’ basis.
PCMC had prepared a ‘city sanitation plan’ to provide more toilets with better sanitation as per the state government order. “The state authority recently ordered the municipal corporations to provide better sanitation. Accordingly, the municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi has asked the civic staff to chalk out plans,” said PCMC administrative officer Anna Bodade.
The civic administration has made a provision of Rs3 crore in the draft budget of 2013-14 for construction of toilet blocks. Presently, there are 800 public toilets in the twin town.
As per the plan, the civic administration plans to purchase 20 mobile toilets to solve this problem.
