DUBURI (Odisha): Few months after commissioning of the Steel Making Shop (SMS), Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), the only public sector company located at Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex, Duburi in Odisha’s Jajpur district, added another feather to its cap as one of its products ‘Steel Billet’ got The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification.
The BIS certification license will be operative from 18 July 2013. BIS is the national Standards Body of the country working under the aegis of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Govt. of India.
Many leading steel players including SAIL have shown interest in NINL billets. Billets are used for the manufacture of all ‘long’ steel products such as bars, rods, pipes, tubes, wire products etc.
With the commissioning of the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) on 31st March, 2013 and subsequent production of billets with BIS certification, NINL has been included in the elite club of integrated steel plants across the country.
