Maruti Suzuki will add 1,000 cameras and radar systems across 70 Gurugram junctions under its ₹75 crore CSR-supported traffic management initiative.
NEW DELHI (India CSR): Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced the expansion of its Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) initiative in Gurugram under its corporate social responsibility programme. In the second phase, the company will install 1,000 additional cameras integrated with radar systems at around 70 junctions across nine road stretches covering 65 km of city roads.
Major Network Expansion
The expansion will take Maruti Suzuki’s total ITMS deployment in Gurugram to 1,400 cameras and radar systems across 93 junctions and 13 key road stretches. The company has allocated approximately Rs. 75 crore under CSR for the Gurugram ITMS project.
Partnership Drives Implementation
Maruti Suzuki is implementing the initiative in partnership with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Gurugram Police. The project is intended to strengthen technology-led traffic monitoring, support enforcement agencies and improve adherence to traffic regulations among commuters.
Building Earlier Progress
In the first phase of the initiative, Maruti Suzuki installed 400 cameras and radar systems at 23 junctions across four road stretches in Gurugram. The new phase significantly expands the coverage of the surveillance and traffic-monitoring network across the city.

Monitoring Traffic Violations
The ITMS is designed to identify traffic violations including red-light jumping, speed-limit violations, riding without helmets, triple riding and wrong-side driving. The system uses cameras and automatic number plate recognition technology to capture vehicle registration details when a violation is detected. The information is then transmitted to the data server at the Integrated Command and Control Centre, where further action can be initiated by the relevant authorities.
Police Welcome Expansion
Recognising Maruti Suzuki’s contribution to the city’s road-safety infrastructure, Sh. Sibash Kabiraj, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, said, “We appreciate Maruti Suzuki’s continued support in strengthening Gurugram’s traffic management infrastructure through its CSR initiative. The expansion of the Integrated Traffic Management System will further strengthen our ability to monitor traffic violations, enable timely enforcement, and encourage greater compliance with traffic regulations.”

GMDA Strengthens Surveillance
P.C. Meena, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, GMDA, said the expansion would strengthen the city’s technology-driven traffic-management and surveillance capacity. “GMDA is committed to building a robust, technology-driven surveillance network to strengthen traffic management and road safety across Gurugram. The expansion of CCTV coverage in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki India Limited and Gurugram Police will enable more effective traffic monitoring, strengthen enforcement of traffic rules and promote greater road discipline,” he said.

Real Time Coordination
He added that connecting the CCTV network with GMDA’s Integrated Command and Control Centre would improve real-time surveillance, coordination among enforcement agencies and response to traffic violations. According to Meena, this integration is expected to contribute to safer roads for commuters.

Company Highlights Safety
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the company’s partnership with GMDA and Gurugram Traffic Police was focused on advancing road safety through technology-led interventions.
“This advanced tracking system addresses issues like riding without helmets, triple riding, red-light violations, over-speeding, and wrong-side driving. These violations highlight a critical road-safety challenge, as human error continues to be the leading cause of road accidents in India,” Bharti said.
Responsible Driving Matters
He added, “Improving road safety requires a combination of responsible driving, robust driving license testing and effective traffic enforcement. We are committed to working alongside authorities in these areas to build a safer mobility ecosystem.”
Expanding Beyond Gurugram
Maruti Suzuki said the Gurugram initiative builds on its earlier Traffic Safety Management System deployment in Delhi. The company is also progressing with plans to scale up ITMS interventions in other states as part of its efforts to promote technology-enabled road-safety management.
Supporting Safer Roads
The expanded deployment in Gurugram is expected to support improved traffic monitoring on major road stretches, assist authorities in identifying violations and encourage more responsible driving behaviour. It also reflects the growing role of CSR-supported public infrastructure in addressing urban mobility, road discipline and safety challenges.
