Maharani 3 OTT Release Date: Huma Qureshi is back as Rani Bharti, the homemaker-turned-chief minister of Bihar, in the third season of the political drama Maharani. The show, created by Subhash Kapoor and directed by Ravindra Gautam, is set to stream soon on Sony LIV, as revealed by a teaser released on January 16, 2024.

What is Maharani about?

Maharani is a Hindi-language drama streaming television series that debuted in 2021. The show draws inspiration from various events in Bihar during the 1990s, particularly the time when Lalu Prasad Yadav nominated his wife Rabri Devi as his successor. The show features Huma Qureshi in the lead role, supported by a cast including Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti, and Inaamulhaq.

The first season, helmed by director Karan Sharma, spanned from 1995 to 1999 and took cues from real-life incidents and characters such as the Ranvir Sena, left-wing militants, Naxalite groups, the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, the 1997 Laxmanpur Bathe massacre, Fodder Scam, and Brahmeshwar Singh.
The second season, under the direction of Ravindra Gautam, unfolded in the mid-1999 period and drew inspiration from actual occurrences and personalities. The storyline delved into events such as the Shilpi-Gautam Murder, Sadhu Yadav, Rajiv Goswami, Shibu Soren, Mohammad Shahabuddin, Prashant Kishor, the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), and the 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly election.

When will Maharani Season 3 release?

While Sony LIV has kept the release date for Maharani Season 3 under wraps, the teaser is accompanied by a mysterious “coming soon” tag, heightening the anticipation among viewers. According to a report published in ComingSoon.net1, Maharani Season 3 is expected to release by mid-2024. However, an official confirmation is yet to be made by the makers.

What can we expect from Maharani Season 3?

The teaser for Maharani Season 3 shows Huma Qureshi as Rani Bharti, who has risen from a simple housewife to a powerful politician, facing new challenges and enemies. She is seen saying, “I have learnt one thing in politics, that you have to keep your enemies close and your friends closer.” The teaser also hints at some twists and turns in the plot, as Rani Bharti’s husband and former chief minister Bheema Bharti (Sohum Shah) is seen in a critical condition, while her rival and deputy chief minister Navin Kumar (Amit Sial) is plotting against her. The teaser ends with Rani Bharti declaring, “I am not a queen, I am a Maharani.”
Fans can expect more drama, suspense, and intrigue in the third season of Maharani, as Rani Bharti continues to navigate the complex and corrupt world of politics, while also dealing with her personal and family issues. The show is likely to explore more aspects of Rani Bharti’s character, as well as the dynamics of her relationships with other characters.

How to watch Maharani Season 3?

Maharani Season 3 will be exclusively available on Sony LIV, the OTT platform owned by Sony Pictures Networks India. To watch the show, viewers will need to subscribe to Sony LIV, which offers different plans ranging from Rs. 299 per month to Rs. 999 per year. The show will be available in Hindi, with subtitles in English and other languages.
