SINGRAULI (Madhya Pradesh): As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Mahan Aluminium – Aditya Birla Group today organised agricultural equipment distribution programe to the farmers at Bargawan under Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh where Mahan Aluminium is located.
“We have distributed advanced agricultural equipment to farmers of our 4 project villages namely Badokhar, Ginha, Gidher and Machigawan in association with District Agriculture Department.”, a senior official of the Mahan Aluminium informed.
The objective of this activity is to mobilize farmers and build their capacity to collectively leverage their production and marketing strength. Further, it shall help farmers by ensuring food security and also improve their agricultural yield and income.
The program focused on unique farming initiatives which includes wasteland development for agriculture, harvesting and recharging ground water, reviving traditional water structures, enhancing farm productivity and increasing yield as well as introduction of new crop variety and undertaking best practices in the area. The program was held at Ginha village.
The main dignitaries who were present in this program were our HR Head – Bishwanath Mukherjee, CSR Head – Yashwant Kumar, PRI members and other opinion leaders.
Bishwanath Mukherjee, Head HR who was the chief guest of the event commented on the initiative, “India is an agriculture based country where we rank second worldwide in farm output. The agriculture sector is an important contributor to the GDP of the country.
However, in recent times the economic contribution of agriculture has been steadily declining due to sectorial issues. It is Mahan’s endeavor to work closely with its key communities i.e. farmers around its area of operations to make them self-sufficient and independent.
“We aim to stimulate interest, promote innovative ideas, best practices, and increase productivity in order to present agriculture as a business model.” , Yashwant Kumar, Head CSR said.
In this event 75 farmers were also provided with various agricultural inputs like Spray Machines, Udani Pankha & Grass cutting machines, etc.
The officials from the District Agriculture department also briefed the farmers with regard to various schemes and subsidies available for them in the current date with the Govt. PRI members and opinion leaders from the village were present in the event who appreciated the initiative by Mahan CSR.
