Angul: The inter-departmental volley ball tournament organized by Jindal Officer Club (JOC) of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) Angul, has been concluded on December 03, 2014 evening under floodlights. In the grand final match of the tournament Dare Devil team of Security department became Champion by beating Spartans team of Plate Mill by 3-1. The tournament was inaugurated on November 19, 2014 by Mr. DK Saraogi, Executive Director & Location Head, JSPL Angul.
Total 16 teams from different departments of JSPL participated in the tournament. In the final match Mr. D K Saraogi and President of Jindal Mahila Samiti Mrs. Sujata Saraogi presented the trophy to the winning team. Addressing the gathering Mr. Saraogi said, “The sportsmanship demonstrated by the players here reflects JSPL’s team spirit and winning attitude. We not only promoted sports among our employees, but also among the people in our surrounding villages”.
Handing over the trophy to the runners up team, Executive Vice-President & General Secretary of JOC Mr. Damodar Mittal thanked the participants and audience for their over whelming response. Head of Phase – 1 B project Mr. Samar Suri presented the mementos to the organizing committee members. Among others, Head of Logistics Mr. Col. Randhir Singh, Head of Security Capt. Ajit Singh and Head of Contract Cell Mr. Shrikant Fulzele were present on the occasion to encourage the players.
More than 500 people, including employees and their family members enjoyed the grand final match held at the Sports Arena of Jindal Nagar. All the departments of JSPL participated in this volley-Ball Extravaganza with their best players. This annual volleyball tournament was managed by Sports Committee of Jindal Officers Club, under the leadership of Sports Secretary Capt. Ajit Singh and his team.
