ODISHA : A Seven day long National Safety week has been celebrated by Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) Angul with a series of sensitization programmes targeted towards employees, workers and community members in and around the plant. In the valedictory programme held on March 10, 2015. Shri U.K Samantray, Asst. Director F&B, Angul Zone joined as Chief-Guest. Shri Kaushalendra Singh,AVP of JSPL delivered the welcome address.
Solemnizing the Safety Oath the Executive Director and Angul Location Head of JSPL Shri Dinesh Kumar Saraogi addressed the employees, worker and contractors and said “JSPL follows the safety norms of global standard and ensures the 100% adherence of the related precautionary measures to achieve the target of zero harm. The intensive awareness programmes organized throughout this safety week will further strengthen JSPL’s endeavor to establish safety as a culture at this plant”
Other Senior functionaries of the Company who were present during the valedictory event were Shri.Damodar Mittal, Mr. Samar Suri, Shri. SK Agarwal, Dr. Saroj Mahapatra, Shri. A.N Tiwari, , Mr. B.B Pradhan, Shri. JLN Murthy, Dr. PC Nipaney, Shri. B.P Singh, and others.
During the observation of the safety week, JSPL organized various competitions in essay, slogans, drawings, posters, poems etc. amongst school students, Employees and Contractors on Safety theme packaged. Special theme competitions like Fire fighting, rescue operations etc. were also conducted amongst the operational departments. The most exciting thematic competition organized on the occasion was “Kaun banega Suraksha Adhipati” (Who will be the King of Safety)
Addressing on this occasion Chief-Guest of the programme, Shri. U.K Samantray, Asst. Director F&B, Angul Zone said “It is quite encouraging to note that JSPL, has organized a series of safety related programmes to mark this safety-week”.He appreciated JSPL’s effort to induct safety practice among its workers and employees.
Other Activities those ignited awareness on safety measures amongst employees, workers , inhabitants in the Company’s Township, local Communities during Safety Week included display of safety messages in the Plant and Labour Colony, distribution of leaflets & rolling of the ‘Surakhya Rath’ around the plant throughout the week.
