ANGUL (India CSR): Jindal Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel, observed World AIDS Day across multiple locations in Angul district with a series of awareness and outreach activities. Rallies were organised with enthusiastic participation from Savitri Jindal DAV High School students, college and nursing students, members of the transgender community, and various other stakeholders to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS.
To promote preventive practices, hoardings with key messages were installed, condom vending machines were placed in vulnerable areas, and community members were sensitised about HIV, its impact, and ways to protect themselves. In collaboration with the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Angul, a mega rally was also conducted in Angul town, drawing strong public participation.
Through its ICTC initiatives, the Jindal Foundation – Angul Unit has reached 5.34 lakh individuals with crucial information on prevention, care, and support. Additionally, voluntary HIV testing has been facilitated for 5.03 lakh individuals, enabling early detection and timely treatment.
To mark the occasion, Jindal Steel’s Logistics Department is launching a week-long HIV Awareness Programme from 3rd December at the truck parking area, in partnership with Last Mile Care Organisation under Project Kavach. The initiative will begin with a Nukkad Natak and awareness session for truck drivers, promoting safe practices and addressing common misconceptions.
Jindal Foundation continues its commitment to community health throughout the year. The District Health Administration has recognised and honoured the Foundation for its sustained efforts in combating HIV/AIDS.
