Uttar Pradesh Embraces Advanced Technology and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to Enhance Disaster Management Capabilities
LUCKNOW (India CSR): In a significant step towards strengthening disaster management in Uttar Pradesh, D.S. Mishra, the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, held a crucial meeting with the newly appointed Vice-Chairman of the State Disaster Management Authority, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Yogendra Dimri, on January 19, 2024. The meeting, also attended by the Disaster Commissioner Navin Kumar, focused on various aspects of disaster management, particularly the integration of new technologies.

Discussion on Disaster Management Technology
The meeting revolved around the implementation of cutting-edge technology in disaster management. Discussions highlighted the need for innovative solutions to enhance the state’s responsiveness and preparedness for various natural disasters. The emphasis was on leveraging technology to streamline disaster management processes and improve the effectiveness of response mechanisms.
CSR Initiatives and Distribution of Relief Sentry Tabs
Following the discussion, an initiative to distribute Relief Sentry Tabs equipped with solar systems to Disaster Friends (Aapda Mitras) was launched, funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. This initiative marks a vital step in involving community efforts in disaster management and relief operations.
Appointment of Disaster Friends in Uttar Pradesh
In a major development, 10,600 Disaster Friends have been appointed across 27 districts in Uttar Pradesh, with financial support from the National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi. In the first phase, 150 Disaster Friends from Ballia, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur districts received the Relief Sentry Tabs and solar systems, overseen by the Relief Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh.
Impact of the Distribution of Devices
The distribution of these devices is expected to significantly contribute to minimizing loss of life in disaster situations. Their effective use in emergencies will greatly aid in managing crises more efficiently. The initiative aims to empower frontline responders with advanced technology, facilitated through CSR funding.
Inclusion of Corporate CSR Leadership in Disaster Management Efforts
Adding a significant corporate perspective to the initiative, Gaurav Mamik, CEO of Reeva (R2V2 Technologies Private Limited), was also part of the delegation. His participation underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in enhancing disaster management capabilities.
