Additionally, ₹39.54 crore remains unspent, earmarked for ongoing projects to be utilized in compliance with CSR regulations.

Details of CSR Spending

Analyzing Reasons for Unspent CSR Funds

Despite significant spending, Infosys has detailed reasons for not utilizing the full two percent of average net profits for CSR activities. The unspent balance of ₹39.54 crore is designated for ongoing projects, with plans to transfer these funds to the unspent CSR account and ensure compliance with CSR rules.

Commitment to Sustainable Development

Infosys’ CSR strategy emphasizes sustainable business practices, encompassing economic, environmental, and social imperatives. The company’s CSR activities focus on holistic community development, aiming to shape and share solutions that foster the development of both businesses and communities. Key focus areas include:

  • Education
  • Malnutrition and Health
  • Women Empowerment
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Gender Equality
  • Rural Development
  • National Heritage and Culture
  • Disaster Management

Analysis and Insights

Infosys’ CSR expenditure of ₹450.76 crore is a testament to its commitment to societal development and sustainability. The allocation of funds towards diverse areas such as healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability reflects a holistic approach to CSR. Notably, the unspent balance of ₹39.54 crore, while earmarked for ongoing projects, raises questions about the execution timeline and the efficiency of project implementations.

The company’s expansion of CSR activities beyond statutory requirements, particularly in the USA, Europe, and Australia, demonstrates a global perspective in its CSR strategy. This international focus not only enhances Infosys’ brand reputation but also underscores its dedication to global humanitarian causes.

Infosys’ detailed reporting and adherence to CSR regulations highlight its transparency and accountability. However, the consistent presence of unspent CSR funds over the past few years indicates a need for more streamlined project management and timely execution.
