CHENNAI: The Namma School Foundation, a new initiative by the Tamil Nadu government to improve infrastructure in government schools, received over 45 crore rupees from various private companies’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds on its inaugural day. Chief Minister MK Stalin, who launched the initiative, emphasized that government schools are not only assets of the government, but also of the public, and called for support from all those willing to come together for the children of Tamil Nadu.
The Foundation will be governed by an executive committee led by joint director-level officials and will provide a virtual tour of the school, including before and after photos, on its website. Contributions to the foundation can be made in cash, kind, or through volunteering services, and donors will be able to track the progress of their funds and receive updates on their utilization.
The foundation aims to lift up students from low-income backgrounds through education and is being supported by Grand Master Vishwanathan Anand as its brand ambassador.
The Namma School Foundation will be overseen by an executive committee led by joint directors. The committee will manage and distribute funds collected, which can be contributed in cash, kind, or through volunteering services.
Donors will be able to track the progress of their funds on the foundation’s website and will receive updates on their utilization. The website also features a virtual tour of the school and before and after photos of the school’s improvements.
