MUMBAI: As part of its employee engagement initiatives, IIFL Foundation organized a tree plantation drive in Mulund, Mumbai on July 10, 2021. Being a responsible corporate citizen, IIFL Group is committed to mitigating the risks arising from climate change.
Tree plantation plays a crucial role in fulfilling this objective by combating environmental issues such as deforestation, erosion of soil, desertification in semi-arid areas, global warming, and more. Such initiatives assume even more significance in metro cities which need to shore up their green cover. Trees also help enhance the beauty and balance in the environment as they absorb harmful gases and emit oxygen, thereby increasing availability of this life-saving gas.
Madhu Jain, Director, IIFL Foundation, said, “In today’s world, tree plantation has become an absolute imperative to reduce the effects of global warming. It is rightly said that, ‘If you plant a tree, you plant a life’. Keeping this in mind, we conducted the drive and were enthused by the active participation from our employees. We will continue to explore similar opportunities in the future and conduct such drives more regularly.”
IIFL Foundation partnered with SAAD Foundation and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for this drive. This event also saw active coordination from the BMC team Ravindra Patil, Chief Security Officer, C. Employee engagement is an important part of the initiatives implemented by IIFL Foundation. It has earlier conducted blood donation camps, marathon (to support the female literacy initiatives of the Foundation), and other similar events.
