MUMBAI: IDFC Bank committed to provide 100,000 water and sanitation loans with a value of overRs. 200 crore, in the next three years, at the 2016 Global Citizen Festival held in Mumbai today.
Dr. Rajiv Lall, Founder MD & CEO, IDFC Bank said, “We are committed to make sanitation accessible and affordable. More than 30,000 global citizens have already tweeted to us about this. Their voice has been heard.”
The core of the problem is that people don’t have access to adequate sanitation facilities. “People, who want access, don’t have the resources to create them. Unfortunately, loan funding for such activities is rarely available. That’s where IDFC Bank has decided to step in. Shuruaat hum karenge. On an average, the Bank’s initiative will positively impact 450,000 beneficiaries, mostly women,” Dr. Lall added at the festival which saw many star studded performances, including that of Coldplay.
