Financial Performance

Revenue

Revenue from operations stood at Rs 13,747 crore during the quarter, up 77% YoY.

The increase was driven by higher metal prices, increased metal production, lead concentrate sales, improved by-product realisation and a stronger US dollar.

EBITDA

EBITDA increased 109% YoY to Rs 8,074 crore, supported by higher production, improved metal prices, a lower cost of production, lead concentrate sales and favourable currency movement.

The company reported an EBITDA margin of approximately 59%, an improvement of around 900 basis points compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Net Profit

Net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 5,469 crore, up 145% YoY, in line with the record EBITDA performance.

The effective tax rate for the quarter was 25.23%.

Zinc Cost of Production

Zinc cost of production, excluding royalty, stood at US$851 per tonne, improving 16% YoY.

The reduction was attributed to improved mined grades, higher metal production, increased use of renewable power and better by-product realisation.

These benefits were partly offset by lower domestic coal usage and higher input commodity prices amid continuing global geopolitical uncertainty.

Liquidity and Investments

As of June 30, 2026, Hindustan Zinc had gross investments and cash of Rs 12,892 crore.

Total outstanding borrowings stood at Rs 7,320 crore.

The company maintained an AAA investment-grade credit rating from CRISIL.

Contribution to the National Exchequer

During the quarter, Hindustan Zinc contributed approximately Rs 6,450 crore to the national exchequer.

This included around Rs 1,700 crore contributed to the Rajasthan state exchequer, including mining royalties.

Project Updates

  • The 510 KTPA fertiliser plant is progressing and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of FY2027
  • The hot acid leaching project for recovering lead and silver from smelting waste at Dariba is expected to be completed by the second quarter of FY2027
  • Detailed engineering and supply ordering are underway for the 250 KTPA integrated refined zinc capacity expansion at Debari, while mine development has commenced. The project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of FY2029
  • India’s first 10 MTPA tailings reprocessing plant at Rampura Agucha is progressing according to schedule. Major supply orders have been placed and construction has commenced, with completion expected by the fourth quarter of FY2028
