UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc Limited, world’s largest integrated zinc producer, recently welcomed an inspiring delegation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Jaipur Chapter for a three-day immersive experience at its Rampura Agucha Mine, the world’s largest underground zinc-producing mine. Ladies Organisation A total of 60 women leaders, with 20 members visiting each day, took part in this transformative initiative that showcased the scale, depth, and sophistication of India’s mining industry.
Delegates descended nearly 850 metres underground—deeper than the height of the Burj Khalifa—to witness Hindustan Zinc’s world-class technological innovations transforming the mining sector. The group experienced tele-remote operated loaders guided by LiDAR technology, capable of being operated from the surface beyond 1000 meters below the surface, ensuring enhanced safety and productivity. They also observed IoT-driven proactive maintenance systems designed to predict and prevent breakdowns, alongside AI-enabled safety monitoring systems ensuring strict compliance with safety standards.
A demonstration of the Virtual Reality (VR) simulator for shaft winder operations showcased Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to safe, high-quality training practices. In addition, the delegation explored tele-remote drilling operations operated seamlessly from the surface. Beyond technology, the visit provided insights into Hindustan Zinc’s integrated approach to mineral identification, maximized mineral recovery, and its commitment to sustainable mining practices that are powering the future of progress. It perfectly reflected FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter’s 2025–26 theme: Heritage, Health & Harmony—bridging tradition with innovation and enabling women to engage with sectors traditionally underrepresented by female leadership.
The visit also facilitated thoughtful conversations around the evolution of mining, the integration of automation, and the growing role of women in industrial sectors. Participants gained an in-depth understanding of how modern mining can align with sustainability, innovation, and community empowerment. The immersive interactions at Rampura Agucha provided not just exposure but inspiration, reinforcing the belief that women leaders can shape impactful narratives in core industries.
