NEW DELHI (India CSR): In a significant development for corporate governance and policy in India, Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh has taken charge as the Director General and CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA). A seasoned civil servant with a distinguished career in public administration, finance, and corporate law, Shri Singh brings decades of experience and thought leadership to this critical role under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh is an officer of Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IP&TAFS) of 1992 batch. He has done his post-graduation in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and his MBA from FMS Delhi and LLB degree from Delhi University.
He has worked in different capacities with Govt. of India and International organization such as UNDP contributing to reconstruction in high-risk conflict zones. Over course of the service, he has acquired domain expertise in the areas of Finance, Public Policy and Administration, E-governance, Insolvency, Corporate Law and Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Regulatory Affairs and Capacity Development.
From August, 2016 to October, 2021, he worked as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Where he was also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) in 2018 and Director General and CEO of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in 2017-18. He was a member of Governing Body of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India, Government Nominees to the Council of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). As Chairman of the Committee on Business Responsibility Reporting (BRR), prepared and submitted a comprehensive report on Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) in August 2020. Based on this report, SEBI mandated filing of the BRSR report by top 1000 companies.
From 2007 to 2012, he worked as an international capacity development advisor with UNDP Afghanistan.
