Good Samaritans India: a savior of most vulnerable communities during Lockdown

NEW DELHI: ‘Good Samaritans India,’ a Hyderabad-based NGO, has left no stone unturned to help the most vulnerable during coronavirus pandemic-lockdown 2021.

Providing Ration-Kits to More than 2000 Families, free ambulance services for the needy patients, arranging for the cost-free funeral of those who succumbed during this pandemic, delivering meals at railway stations and other places to the needy, and lending a helping hand to migrants and the homeless destitute people, providing oxygen concentrators to the needy patient post-discharge this NGO works every day to help those deprived of necessities in these tiring times.

The Good Samaritans India has been working round-the-clock (24/7) to help COVID-19 victims and their families by providing ambulance, hearse, cremation services, food, shelter, and other basic facilities to migrants and homeless people.

Run by A.I. George Rakesh Babu, Founder, Good Samaritans India, his dedicated team of 20 people, the NGO has since March 21 carried out the funeral of over 36 people who lost their lives the viral disease.

“If we were earlier carrying out cremation of Two to three people each day, with the spike in COVID-19 deaths, the number has gone up to more than thirty five now. Not only this, but we have also ferried a large number of coronavirus patients to hospitals in our ambulances so far,” says A.I. George operates two ambulances and bears the entire expense for the funeral, he added.

The NGO receiving calls for help were attended provided necessary information and awareness about the disease works day and night, providing counseling to people about the disease, creating awareness, providing information about hospitals, beds, and other necessities.

The NGO has also played a crucial role in providing shelter to around 150 migrants and homeless people irrespective of whether they are infected or not.

“In the fight against COVID-19, Good Samaritans India has been making a difference by reaching out to more and more people across Hyderabad with nearly 3000 ration kits feeding 200 people daily and distributing 3000 face masks including N-95 masks and others till now,” he said.

He also adds a fundraising initiative, “Join the fight against India’s second wave. Help them survive”.
