DHEKANAL: GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) is providing ambulance services during the festival of famous Maha Shivratri at Kapilas in Dhenkanal on February 20.
The ambulance service is arranged for devotees on a request by Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Dhenkanal and will provide round-the-clock service during the festival at Kapilas.
Mr. K.V.V. Rao, Managing Director, GKEL,which is setting a 1,400 MW Coal-based Thermal Power Plant at Kamalanga, said: “Our ambulances will provide services round-the-clock for the devotees during Shivratri.”
Thousands of devotees are expected to visit Kapilas on Monday on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. The 223-foot high peak of Kapilas range houses the temple of Lord Shiva. One has to climb 1,352 steps to reach the temple.
GKEL has also provided ambulance services during the famous Maghamela held at Joranda in Dhenkanal recently. The company is providing round-the-clock ambulance facility for the benefit of the local villagers, adjacent to the project site.
GKEL has helped the Dhenkanal District Hospital set up and fully equip an Accident Care Unit, the first of its kind in Odisha.
GKEL is also setting up a 30-bed state-of-the-art hospital through its CSR arm-GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, which will open for services soon. The company has been conducting regular health check-up camps for the local villagers near the project site.
