Adani Energy Solutions to Build 298-Km Transmission Line in Gujarat
Indian billionaire Gautam Adani continues to expand his renewable energy portfolio through a massive $476 million investment. Adani Energy Solutions, part of the Adani Group, has announced plans to build a 298-kilometer power transmission line in Gujarat. This project will support the company’s green energy efforts by distributing power from its renewable energy park in the Khavda region to Bhuj city.
A Major Step in Green Energy Transmission
The new transmission line is a crucial component of Adani’s vision to strengthen India’s green energy infrastructure. Adani Energy Solutions, controlled by Gautam Adani, is committing 40 billion rupees ($476 million) to this project, which will transmit electricity from the Khavda region, home to what will be the world’s largest renewable energy park once fully developed.
Adani Green Energy, a subsidiary of the conglomerate, is constructing the renewable park, which will have a massive capacity of 30 gigawatts by 2029.
“This investment will not only establish the critical transmission network required to transport the planned 30 gigawatts of green power but also provide much-needed grid stability,” said Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions.
Fast-Tracking the Construction Timeline
Construction of the 298-kilometer transmission line is expected to be completed within two years. The project will operate under a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) scheme, where Adani Energy Solutions will manage the line for 35 years in partnership with the government.
The Khavda renewable energy park, spread over 538 square kilometers, has already begun generating two gigawatts of power. The project aims to triple that figure to six gigawatts by next year, with the ultimate goal of reaching 30 gigawatts of renewable power by 2029.
Strengthening Global Partnerships in Renewable Energy
The powerline project is not the only green energy endeavor where the Adani Group is making headlines. France’s TotalEnergies has deepened its partnership with Adani Green Energy, investing approximately $444 million in a new joint venture to develop solar projects across India.
This collaboration will see TotalEnergies, which already holds a 19.8% stake in Adani Green Energy, own 50% of a joint venture focused on solar energy. The venture will include solar farms with a combined capacity of 1,150 megawatts, both operational and under construction.
Gautam Adani’s Green Energy Vision
Adani’s green energy expansion reflects his long-term commitment to clean energy solutions in India and beyond. As the second wealthiest individual in India, with a net worth of $68 billion according to Forbes, Adani’s influence spans numerous sectors, including airports, ports, mining, cement, and power generation.
This latest investment in green energy transmission solidifies his vision to make India a leader in renewable energy. Through his company’s extensive infrastructure developments, Adani aims to support the government’s target of transitioning toward a greener, more sustainable energy mix.
