VIZAG: Gangavaram Port Limited today started the fifth batch of the Sewing Training program for the women . As a part of the program 50 women have been selected from neighboring Gangavaram Village who will be undergoing 45 days of training. The training will include basic concept of stitching and clothing designs. Apart from organizing the classes GPL will also provide transportation facility for the convenience of the women who will be attending the program. Upon completing the tailoring program, each woman will be issued certificate which will help the women get employment locally or at apparel parks.
The program was inaugurated by K Raja Ratnam Naidu, Sr Vice President (R&R and Security) in the presence of M Jagan Mohan Reddy, Vice President (Security), L P S Ramu Naidu, Vice President (Liasoning) and Mr. V Murali Varma and other port officials.
The Sewing training program by Gangavaram port has received a fantastic response from the women folks in the neighboring villages as it has provided them with an opportunity to supplement the family income.
According to Gangavaram Port Management officials, “We are extremely happy at the response we have received for the program so far. GPL aims to uplift and give equal status to the women of the surrounding areas through Women Empowerment activities like sewing and stitching programs. The main aim of this program is to enhance the quality of life of women through increased knowledge and skills. We will continue this exercise as it benefits the women in our neighboring villages”
