NEW DELHI (India CSR): A Workshop for Bihar’s Sustainable Development organised by Department of Planning and Development in association with Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna supported by NITI Ayog, Government of India. This workshop started with the welcome address by director of CIMP, Prof. Dr. Rana Singh, who welcomed all the guests. Next, Chief Guest Shri P N Rai, IPS Retd. has discussed about the local actions required to achieve SDGs.
Role of Youth in Disaster Risk Reduction
More specifically, he discussed about the role of youth in disaster risk reduction. Kumod Kumar has introduced participants about the workshop and set the tone for the day. Prem Prakash, Team Leader, SSM has discussed about the role of government and policy in the context of achieving SDGs and he discussed about the recent policies.
Keynote Session on Sustainable Practices in Agriculture
Next, keynote speaker Prof. Sapna Narula, Director of NIAM has discussed about the current sustainable practices in agriculture sector, and what needs to be done in the context of Bihar. The inaugural session ends with the vote of thanks by Prof. Sibananda Senapati.

Technical Sessions on SDGs Integration
Furthermore, the technical sessions for the workshop started with the first session titled Integrating SDGs into Organisational Strategy, delivered by Dr. Vivek Prakash, Senior Vice President and Head, Corporate Social Responsibility, Jubilant. He discussed about the role of corporations in achieving SDGs and he discussed some CSR practiced by Jubilant in Odisha.
Tools and Techniques for SDGs Impact Measurement
He also focused on acting now to achieve SDGs by 2030 and collectively dealing with the barriers. Next technical session titled Tools and techniques for SDGs Impact measurement delivered by Swagat Mishra from KPMG India. He discussed about the ESG practices and governance. He also discussed about the action points for SDGs impact measurement.
Round Table Discussion on Bihar’s Development
Next, a round table discussion was started, which was moderated by Shri Prem Prakash. In this discussion subject and sector experts, representatives from academica, and civil societies has joined. The round table discussion has discussed about the contemporary issues in the context of Bihar and they has discussed about the policy insights and strategic steps needs to be taken for developed Bihar.
WASH and SDGs in Bihar
Post lunch, a session by Dr Prabhakar Sinha, WASH Specialist at UNICEF Bihar has discussed about WASH and SDGs in Bihar. He has highlighted the importance of WASH in the context of Bihar including current status, challenges, and actions to be taken to achieve SDGs in Bihar.
