Empowered over 400 people across Karnataka and Maharashtra
New Delhi (India CSR): In support of a longstanding commitment to uplift the communities in India, Visteon Corporation, a global technology company serving the mobility industry, has provided supplies to support the mobility needs of over 400 people across 10 districts in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The company, along with its NGO partners, organized donation camps in Kolar, Vijayanagara, Bagalkot, Belgaum, Gadag, Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Ahmednagar and Ratnagiri. The donations included prostheses, calipers, wheelchairs, walkers, tricycles and hearing aids.
The employees in India also stepped in to support this initiative and volunteered their time and efforts by actively participating in these camps. Along with the NGOs, schools and Panchayats, they screened the individuals, assessed their needs, measured and estimated the size of the required artificial limbs, and worked with the vendor to fabricate the same. Beneficiaries were also trained in handling the prosthesis, thus ensuring proper rehabilitation.

Lakshman Salapur from Chiksaunshi village in Bagalkot district lost his leg in an accident and was jobless for 3 years. Assisted by an artificial limb he received at a Visteon camp, he now drives a tractor and can farm.
Pradeep Bhalekar, the sole breadwinner for his family, from Nigadi Village in Sangli district lost his leg in an accident and was confined to his house for more than 2 years without any support. The advanced prosthetics provided to him through Visteonโs efforts enabled him to run his hardware shop.
When expanded to other districts, this project will be able to impact hundreds more people-empowering them to pursue job opportunities, build careers and lead a dignified life.
