BENGALURU (India CSR): Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reaffirmed its dedication to holistic community development with the successful conclusion of its 33rd iCARE (i, Community Action to Reach Everyone) event. Held on 19th January 2025 at Government High School, Doddagholarahatti, near Kengeri, the initiative highlighted TKM’s commitment to promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education through experiential learning.

Empowering Young Minds Through STEM

The event brought together 200 passionate iCARE volunteers and 100 enthusiastic students from the host school to collaboratively design and build interactive STEM models. These included innovative tools like hand pumps, solar energy systems, geo boards, and electromagnets. The activity coincided with International Education Month, emphasizing Toyota’s focus on nurturing problem-solving skills and creative thinking among young learners.

STEM kits are transformative tools in education, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. For under-resourced schools, they provide a hands-on approach to learning, fostering curiosity and innovation. By engaging students in practical experiments, STEM kits encourage discovery and prepare them for academic growth and future career opportunities.

Leadership’s Commitment to Education

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer and Senior Vice President at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said:

“The iCARE program is a true testament to our commitment to creating a meaningful and sustainable impact in the communities we serve. At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, we strongly believe that education is the cornerstone of building a brighter future, and STEM education, in particular, is key to fostering curiosity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students. The provision of STEM kits is essential in bridging the learning gap by offering students hands-on tools that turn theoretical knowledge into practical understanding. Through this 33rd iCARE activity, we aimed to create practical, hands-on learning experiences for young minds that not only help them grasp theoretical concepts but also inspire them to innovate and apply these learnings in real-world scenarios.”

He further highlighted the collaborative effort of volunteers and students, stating that the overwhelming participation demonstrated the power of teamwork in driving meaningful change.

iCARE’s Ongoing Impact

This STEM-focused initiative is a part of TKM’s comprehensive iCARE program for FY 2024-25, which underscores the company’s multi-dimensional approach to social responsibility. The program’s earlier activities in 2024 included:

  • A clean-up drive at Irregowdana Lake in Bidadi.
  • Infrastructure enhancement at Government High School, Ullal Upanagara, Kengeri.
  • Creation of educational murals and learning materials at Government High School, Kannahalli.

These projects reflect TKM’s dedication to education, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment.

A Legacy of Impact

Since its launch in 2017, iCARE has mobilized over 3,000 volunteers across 33 events, directly impacting more than 67,600 community members. Activities have ranged from planting saplings and restoring ecosystems to promoting education through the development of STEM kits and tools.

This commitment to sustainability and community service is embedded in Toyota’s core philosophy. By engaging employees in these initiatives, TKM ensures that its workforce actively contributes to social betterment, fostering a culture of responsibility and purpose.

Looking Ahead

As Toyota Kirloskar Motor continues its journey of community empowerment, the iCARE program stands as a beacon of impactful corporate social responsibility. With a focus on education, environmental conservation, and community welfare, TKM aims to touch more lives and leave a lasting legacy of positive change.

Through sustained efforts like these, Toyota reinforces its mission to create a better society by combining innovation with responsibility. The 33rd iCARE event is not just a milestone but a testament to the company’s enduring vision of creating a brighter future for all.
