PALAKKAD, KERALA (India CSR): In a world where safe housing remains a distant dream for many, Sobha Group’s CSR initiative, Griha Sobha, is lighting the way for underprivileged families. On February 9, 2025, the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust, founded by Mr. PNC Menon and Mrs. Sobha Menon, celebrated a significant milestone by handing over 120 free homes to women-led families in Palakkad, Kerala. This brings the total number of homes delivered under the initiative to 230, marking a heartwarming step toward the goal of providing 1,000 free homes by 2025.
A Safe Haven for Families in Need
Launched in 2022, Griha Sobha focuses on addressing the housing crisis faced by economically weaker sections, particularly women-led families. The initiative not only provides homes but also empowers families with land ownership. In this latest phase, 13 landless families were gifted 5 cents of land each, ensuring they have a foundation to build their futures.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including Sri Adv K Rajan, Kerala’s Minister for Revenue and Housing, along with other state ministers, MPs, and MLAs. Their presence highlighted the collective commitment to social development and the importance of public-private partnerships in driving meaningful change.
Building More Than Just Homes
For many beneficiaries, Griha Sobha is more than just a roof over their heads—it’s a symbol of hope and stability. Women, often the backbone of their families, now have a secure environment to raise their children, pursue livelihoods, and dream bigger.
Mr. PNC Menon, Founder of Sobha Group and the visionary behind the Trust, emphasized the transformative power of a safe home. “A home is not just a structure; it’s the foundation for a better life. Through Griha Sobha, we aim to empower women-led families to break the cycle of poverty and create a legacy of hope for future generations,” he shared.
A Commitment to Holistic Development
The Griha Sobha initiative is part of the Trust’s broader mission to drive holistic social development. By addressing basic needs like housing, the initiative paves the way for improved health, education, and economic opportunities. The Trust’s efforts are a testament to the belief that sustainable change begins with empowering individuals and communities.
Looking ahead, the foundation stone for another 120 homes will be laid in March 2025, bringing the initiative closer to its goal of 1,000 homes. Each step forward is a reminder that collective action can create a ripple effect of positive change.
A Legacy of Empowerment
As Griha Sobha continues to transform lives, it stands as a shining example of how corporate social responsibility can make a tangible difference. By focusing on women-led families, the initiative not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters long-term empowerment.
For the families who now have a place to call home, Griha Sobha is more than a program—it’s a new beginning. And for Sobha Group, it’s a reaffirmation of their commitment to building a better, more equitable world.
