Mumbai (India CSR): SBI Life Insurance, one of the most trusted private life insurers in India, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program donated an ambulance to Chaitanya Seva Trust to ensure access to healthcare services for the marginalised and underprivileged sections of the society residing in Thane & Palghar district of Maharashtra. An ambulance service plays an indispensable role in an emergency, pre-hospital medical care, patient transfers etc. Keeping in mind the needs of the marginalised, the company donated a general ambulance to improve access to healthcare services for the community.

Anand, President Zone 1, SBI Life Insurance and Ms. Anita Peshkar, Regional Director- Mumbai Metro Region, SBI Life Insurance handed over the ambulance keys to Dr. Santosh Choudhari, Trustee and G. Venkatraman, Manager – Projects & Resources, Chaitanya Seva Trust in presence of other esteemed dignitaries.
Chaitanya Seva Trust is a public charitable Trust that runs a multispecialty hospital – Bhakti Vedanta Hospital & Research Institute at Mira Road, Thane which provides free and concessional medical treatment to the patients from economically weaker sections especially the tribal/ underprivileged locals residing in Thane and Palghar districts of the state. The ambulance will be used for transportation of the underprivileged patients to the hospital and dropping them back to their respective homes post medical treatment.
Speaking on the occasion, M Anand, President Zone 1, SBI Life Insurance said, “While the healthcare infrastructure in the country has significantly advanced, its access to the underprivileged sections of the society is still a concern in the hinterlands. Coupled with the rising cost of medical treatment makes healthcare access for the economically marginalised population extremely challenging. Keeping in mind the urgent need for access to healthcare services, SBI Life Insurance joined hands with Chaitanya Seva Trust to make ambulance services available to the needy free of cost, thereby addressing any medical emergencies. As a part of our CSR program, SBI Life has been supporting a wide range of socio-economic initiatives in various thrust areas including health and medical care for the weaker sections of the society. The flagging off of the ambulance is an important step to commit ourselves towards the development of healthcare for the underprivileged.” He further added, “We hope that our endeavour strengthens our focus towards providing access to medical aid in the region and helps the underserved community to leverage from the initiative.”

It was established in 1992 with the vision to serve the humanity by providing affordable & quality healthcare by offering free & concessional medical treatment to the needy sections of the society. It is headquartered in Mumbai and operational across Thane and Palghar districts of Maharashtra and also present in Uttar Pradesh. In addition to providing quality healthcare to the underprivileged, the Trust also runs several rural development programs that focuses on enhancing livelihood options of landless, skill development, education, women empowerment and water resource development.
