Cath Lab, Part of CSR Initiatives, Completes a Year

DELHI / MEHSANA / AHMEDABAD (Indai CSR): In a significant milestone, Maruti Suzuki’s state-of-the-art ‘Cath Lab’ at Zydus Sitapur Hospital has completed its first year of delivering advanced cardiac care. This initiative, part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, has transformed healthcare access for residents of nearly 400 villages around MSIL’s Gujarat facility.

Maruti Suzuki has made a profound impact on the healthcare landscape of rural Gujarat. Through its CSR initiative, the company established a cutting-edge Cath Lab at Zydus Sitapur Hospital. This facility has been pivotal in providing critical cardiac care to the region.

Investment and Infrastructure

The Cath Lab, set up with an investment of Rs. 5.6 crore, was fully funded by Maruti Suzuki. The hospital, launched in 2021, represents a total investment of Rs. 160 crore by the company. It is managed and operated by the Ramanbhai Foundation, an arm of the Zydus Group.

Comprehensive Medical Services

Zydus Sitapur Hospital is the region’s first multi-specialty hospital. It offers a range of advanced clinical facilities including General Medicine, Orthopedics, Trauma, Gynecology, Urology, Nephrology, and Dialysis. The introduction of the Cath Lab in April 2023 has been a game-changer, providing 24×7 access to advanced cardiac care.

Community Impact

Rahul Bharti, Executive Officer – Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, highlighted the hospital’s role in the community. “Built with the motivation to make tertiary healthcare accessible to the community around our plant, the company has invested overall Rs 160 crore towards setting up Zydus Sitapur, a multi-specialty 110-bedded hospital. It is an interesting example of how a corporate can make a positive intervention in a hitherto uninhabited place and make it a congenial place for community and employees,” said Bharti.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on good health and well-being, the Cath Lab underscores Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to enhancing local healthcare infrastructure. “The launch of the Cath Lab underlines our commitment to support local healthcare infrastructure with last-mile access to cardiac treatment in the region,” Bharti added.

Accreditation and Recognition

Zydus Sitapur Hospital is a symbol of quality healthcare. It is accredited with NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) certification and recently received gold quality certification from the Quality Council of India (QCI). The hospital’s services reach more than 15 lakh people from nearby villages, eliminating the need for long-distance travel to access quality medical care.
