CHENNAI (India CSR): In celebration of World Environment Day, Karur Vysya Bank (KVB), in collaboration with Madras University and its NGO partner Communitree, completed a tree plantation drive of 10,000 native saplings across the university campus. The initiative reinforces KVB’s deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and community-led environmental action. It aims to enhance the region’s green cover and contribute to long-term biodiversity by developing a dense, self-sustaining urban forest ecosystem.
Held at the historic University of Madras campus, the event drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, KVB employees, Communitree volunteers, and other community members. The drive forms part of KVB’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda focused on climate action, ecological restoration, and community development.
Speaking at the launch event, B. Ramesh Babu, Managing Director & CEO of Karur Vysya Bank, said:
“World Environment Day reminds us of our shared duty to protect and preserve our planet. At Karur Vysya Bank, we are proud to mark this day by planting 10,000 trees in partnership with Madras University. It is a symbolic and practical step toward building a greener, healthier future for generations to come.”
Adding to this, Professor S. Elumalai, Registrar of Madras University, said:
