ANGUL: With an objective to promote sporting talents among the rural youths, JSPL Foundation, the CSR wing of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL), has organised a two-day long Inter High School Kho-Kho and Kabaddi Tournament at Jindal Vidyapitha, R&R Colony, Badamahitala on Feb 14-15.
Students across the age group and gender from 9 schools participated in this mega tournament and exhibited their sporting talent. Company has manufacturing facilities in Angul in Odisha.
Aswini Kumar Sahu, SDPO., Angul and Preeti Manjari Menduli, IIC, Industrial Police Station, NIsha graced as the Chief-Guest of the opening and closing ceremony respectively and encouraged the students to take part in different sporting events as this practice will not only keep them fit but also make their mind sharp and healthy.
While distributing the trophies to the participants Preeti Manjari Menduli, appreciated the participation of school students especially the girls in such opportunities provided by JSPL Foundation to test their talents.She also commended the efforts of Foundation for promoting rural talents.
The Kabbadi championship trophy in Boys category was lifted by Tukuda High School by defeating the other finalist Badkerjang High School. In Girl’s, DAV Savitri Jindal High School won the Championship trophy defeating Centenary Tribal Schol, Paranga .
Similarly the Kho-Kho boys Championship trophy was lifted by the DAV Savitri Jindal High School by defeating Centenary Tribla High School, Parang and Kho-Kho Girls championship trophy was also lifted by the DAV Savitri Jindal High School by defeating Centenary Tribal High School, Parang.
The best players of the tournament were also felicitated for their distinguished contribution in their respective categories. Sushil Muduli of Tukuda High School for boys Kabbadi, Mira Dehury of DAV Savitri Jindal High School for girls Kabbadi, Himanshu Behera of Centenary Tribal High School, Paranga for boys Kho-kho and Sani Sahu of DAV Savitri Jindal High School for girls Kho Kho category.
On this occasion Master Dusmanta Bhoi, the 10th class student of DAV Savitri Jindal High School was also felicitated for his outstanding contribution to Odisha Kho-Kho as he had represented Odisha in DAV National Sports Meet 2019-20 held at Hyderabad.
The other distinguished guests who were present at the function were Puspalata Satapathy, GM-CSR; JSPL, Fakira Mohan Sahoo, Principal, DAV Savitri Jindal High School and Debashish Mohanty, Manager – JSPL.
Tapas Mohanty, Asst. Manager-CSR, JSPL along with officials from various other High-Schools and CSR team members conducted the tournament. Centenary Tribal High School, Parang.
