Infosys Foundation has taken a leap towards improving the lives of the less fortunate with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art 100-bed maternity and child care hospital in the Kanakapura Taluk of Karnataka.
Introduction
Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys, inaugurated a 100-bed maternity and childcare hospital in Kanakapura Taluk in Ramanagara District of Karnataka. It has established in collaboration with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services of Karnataka Govt. The new hospital, which replaces the former Government Maternity Hospital, will provide quality maternity and childcare services for the underprivileged population in the area. The initiative aligns with mission of foundation to support rural development and improve healthcare infrastructure. The foundation has previously launched a mobile eye hospital and supported the development of a new 350-bed hospital block for cardiac care.
Partnership with Karnataka Govt.
Through this collaboration, the erstwhile Government Maternity Hospital in Kanakapura Taluk has been rebuilt and the new hospital has facilities including oxygen and medical gas pipelines, a sophisticated fire protection alarm system, meticulously designed electrical and plumbing work, an HVAC system and underground water reservoir.
Maternity and childcare facilities
This initiative aims to provide quality maternity and childcare to help the underprivileged, advancing the Foundationโs commitment towards rural development, and to provide better health infrastructure for the benefit of the society.
Shree Sharadadevi Mobile Eye Hospital
Previously, Infosys Foundation launched the Shree Sharadadevi Mobile Eye Hospital, a first-of-its-kind fully equipped mobile eye hospital to serve people residing in remote villages in Karnataka. The initiative was aimed at providing quality eye care to over 5 lakh people, including children and students, in collaboration with Sri Ramakrishna Sevashrama.
Support to 350-bed hospital block
The Foundation also supported the development of a new 350-bed hospital block, โInfosys Foundation Blockโ, within the Jayadeva Hospital premises, in Bengaluru, to provide quality cardiac care for underprivileged patients.
‘Accessing affordable and quality healthcare’
Dr. K. Sudhakar, Health Minister, Government of Karnataka. said, โWe acknowledge the support of Infosys Foundation in developing the overall healthcare infrastructure of Karnataka. This initiative will not only address the medical needs of new mothers and their children but will also provide continued support in ensuring that they have access to affordable, quality healthcare.”
