Udaipur (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) has achieved global recognition by securing the highest CSA Score of 85* in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment among the 238 companies in the metals and mining sector. The company, with the significant improvement in its scores from 80 last year to 85 this year, reaffirms its constant commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices.
Speaking on this achievement, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc Limited and Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Limited said, “We are proud of Hindustan Zinc’s and Vedanta’s remarkable performance in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment. Notably, the company’s rise from the 5th highest score of 77 in the year 2021 to the 3rd highest score of 80 in 2022 and now, the top position at 85 reflects improved environment, social and governance (ESG) practices and performance among its peers.
The company’s collaborative efforts towards achieving #NetZero emissions, in alignment with their targets validated by SBTi, have propelled their journey towards decarbonising by 2050 or sooner. Introducing Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in underground mining, powering its Pantnagar Metal Plant with 100% green energy, securing its renewable energy sourcing of 450 MW while ensuring water positivity and promoting inclusivity & diversity have contributed to the company’s global achievement.
