BENGALURU: Grant Thornton US’ Global In-House Centre (GIC) in Bengaluru, donated 3 state-of-the-art multi-mode ventilators and 10 ICU beds to the Directorate of Medical Education, Govt. of Karnataka to support and sustain COVID relief work in the city.
The donated equipment was received by the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri. B.S. Yediyurappa at a handover ceremony at the CM’s residence.
The ICU beds and ventilators will be set up in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute, Bengaluru and was handed over in the presence of Dr. Manoj Kumar HV, Dean & Director, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College & Research Institute and TK Anil Kumar, Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department (Medical Education).
The Grant Thornton team collaborated with Lung Care Foundation and Global Shapers Community (Bengaluru) in consultation with Govt. of Karnataka’s Directorate of Medical Education and Govt. COVID task force.
The objective was to identify and address the current and future need for medical equipment to support COVID treatment. By partnering with the right stakeholders, the team leveraged expert insights to take a calibrated approach to identify the real need and channelize the funding to address it.

The fundraiser for donation of the medical equipment was initiated by Helping Hands, Grant Thornton’s Corporate Social Responsibility committee in Bengaluru. The objective of the fund raiser resonated with many and soon team members in the US came forward to do their bit in supporting India’s fight against COVID-19. Grant Thornton US has had its presence in Bengaluru since 2012 and has over 1300 employees supporting client service delivery for the US firm.
