NEW DELHI: Chaayos, a chai café chain has partnered with the Smile Foundation, a national level development organization to support the cause of Nutrition for Education, a statement said.
It has adopted 28 children from the Foundation and will be sponsoring their nutritional cost for one year. In order to create awareness about the cause, Chaayos will decorate all its cafés with the beautiful paper boats as part of their Monsoon Menu launch festivities.
The objectives of this initiative are to raise awareness on malnutrition of children, encourage more people to join this cause, spread the message of education for the upcoming generation and to bring about a change in the society, it said.
Today, more than half of population is below the age of 25. In next five years, India is touted to become the largest young population. While nearly 8 million children are deprived of formal education. Proper nutrition is also crucial for the health of the coming generations.
Raghav Verma, Co-Founder, Chaayos said, “Children are our future and it is heart wrenching to see the plight of so many. While education remains an issue, a number of kids also go hungry due to the poor distribution of food and this severely impacts their mental and physical growth. I spent some time with the beautiful kids at Smile foundation and it has been a soul-stirring experience.”
Sanjeev Dham, COO, Smile Foundation said, “One in every three malnourished children in the world is from India. The consequences are long-term and it prevents children’s overall growth, learning ability, going to school and a chance to come out of the vicious cycle of poverty for yet another generation. Thereby it also prevents the country’s growth.”
