NEW DELHI: CQUniversity Australia has celebrated its 20th year of association with Asia by highlighting its commitment to providing education to students from South Asian countries. The university has provided access to education to students from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Professor Nick Klomp, Vice Chancellor and President at CQUniversity, said: “CQUniversity’s activities in the Asia region extend beyond student recruitment. We aim to serve the community through student and staff volunteering, placements, study tours, research, community welfare to support livelihoods.”
CQUniversity Australia is proud of its 10-year partnership with the Salaam Baalak Trust (SBT), an NGO in Delhi that provides educational and economic support to street and working children in the region.
Through this partnership, CQU has provided scholarships for 72 children, with 62 of them having completed their education and achieving financial independence. This partnership has had a positive impact on over 180 lives and continues to grow.
CQU has donated AUD600,000 ($420,000) to the NGO since 2011 as part of its in-country scholarship programme. “We aim to serve the community through student and staff volunteering, placements, study tours, research, community welfare to support livelihoods,” said Professor Nick Klomp, vice chancellor and president at CQUniversity.
