INDIACSR announces mega CSR Conference in Mumbai in May 2012
UDAIPUR: The “Vedanta-Hindustan Zinc Red Cross Bhavan” built by Hindustan Zinc was inaugurated and formally handed over to Red Cross Society, District Udaipur, by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot. Hindustan Zinc has contributed Rs 15 lakhs towards the construction of ‘Vedanta-Hindustan Zinc Red Cross Bhavan’. The Bhavan is expected to be useful towards attending large number of patients visiting Red Cross Society, Udaipur.
While inaugurating the Bhavan, the Hon’ble Chief Minister appreciated the efforts being made by Hindustan Zinc to improve the socio-economic conditions of rural poor in Rajasthan. Shri Gehlot was quite happy to note the up-gradation of Vedanta-Hindustan Zinc Heart Hospital at Udaipur. Hindustan Zinc is spending close to Rs 14 crore on up-gradation, over and above Rs 7 crore spent earlier towards setting up the Hospital. This only shows the seriousness of the company in helping the rural poor, said the chief Minister.
The Chief Minister praised Mr. Anil Agarwal, the Chairman of Vedanta Group, for his vision for uplifting socio-economic conditions of rural poor, sustainable development in rural areas and being partners in prosperity of Rajasthan.
On the occasion, the CEO of Hindustan Zinc, Shri Akhilesh Joshi, while addressing the gathering, informed about various social welfare initiatives being undertaken by Hindustan Zinc that include formation of Self-Help group for women empowerment, adoption of Anganwadi Centers to improve the nutrition value amongst the rural children, Mid-day meal for school going children, computer education, employment to rural youth through skill based training programs, health camps in rural areas, beautification of city through construction of monumental structure at Thokar Circle and providing facilities like water & sanitation.
Mr. Joshi also mentioned the need for setting up of sewerage treatment plant which is expected to address to a large extent the sewerage problem in the city. My Joshi referred to the proposal submitted by Hindustan Zinc to the Government of Rajasthan.

Hindustan Zinc is the world’s largest producer of zinc and has been the largest contributor in improving the socio-economic condition of rural poor in Rajasthan. The company is reaching out to about 200 villages in Rajasthan.
