NEW DELHI: Apna, a hiring platform dedicated to the frontline workforce, partners with Feeding India to provide hygienic and nutritious meals to this community. The food drive will provide seventy thousand meals in 4 cities to job-seeking daily wagers.

The lockdowns have led to financial difficulties for several workers in the unorganized sectors. All meals disbursed are nutritious and consist of combinations of dal, rice, rotis, and vegetables. Feeding India will lead the distribution with its 100+ channel partners while ensuring complete compliance to COVID-19 norms including, social distancing, and contactless distribution.

Nirmit Parikh, Founder and CEO, Apna, said, “The second wave of the pandemic has impacted major industries in India. Several of our frontline workforce and their families are struggling to access basic items such as daily nourishment. Feeding India has been doing tremendous work by serving millions of people since the pandemic. With this partnership, we aim to provide nutrition power to a community worst affected by this pandemic.”

Chaitanya Mathur, Head, Feeding India by Zomato, said, “A large part of the daily wager community has been going to bed hungry sometimes without any means to secure even a single meal for themselves and their family. With no means to livelihood, these daily wagers are one of the worst affected by the current wave. We are glad to have partnered with Apna, who are not only sensitive to the grievances of this community but are also willing to make a difference with necessary actions.”
