BHADRAK: The Aahaar Centre for Bhadrak district was inaugurated today by Arjun Charan Sethy Member of Parliament, Bhadrak. The Aahaar centre located near Bhadrak bus terminal and closer to the Bhadrak district hospital and district court will function everyday, excepting Sundays.
The centre is supported by Adani Foundation, the CSR wing of Adani Group which owns Dhamra Port.
Hot cooked vegetarian meals will be served at the centre at Rs 5/- only. This will largely benefit the economically poor people who most often come to the district headquarter for attending court cases, meeting government officials at the collectorate or, for treatment of their relatives at the district hospital.
Everyday 500 meals will be served at the Aahaar centre. While the cost of each meal is estimated at Rs 20/-, a nominal Rs 5/- will be collected from the customer / beneficiary. The rest amount will be borne by Dhamra Port as Implementing Partner of the project.
In order to ensure smooth functioning of the centre and monitor the quality of food and service, a District Aahaar Society has been formed and its empowered to control the functioning of the Aahaar centre.
The District Aahaar Society, Bhadrak is chaired by Collector LN Mishra and the Executive Officer of Bhadrak Municipality Antaryami Panda and DGM of Dhamra Port Himansu Shekhar Sahoo as governing body members among others.
During inauguration of the Aahaar centre, Collector Bhadrak thanked Adani Foundation and Dhamra Port for partnering with the government in implementation of the novel programme for urban poor.
