Dhobil, Jharkhand: Vedanta rolled out its first Nand Ghar centre at Dhobil, Jharkhand with a vision to transform over 4 million lives across the country through its flagship corporate social responsibility project. The 104th Nand Ghar in the state of Jharkhand developed at Dhobil village was inaugurated in distinguished presence of Smt. Joba Manjhi, Minister of Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security, Govt. of Jharkhand.

The Nand Ghar journey began in 2015 with a vision to tratnsform the lives of 8.5 crore children and 2 crore women across 13.7 lakh anganwadis. A dream project of Vedanta Chairman, Anil Agarwal, Nand Ghar is a network of model anganwadis where the thrust is on inclusive development of children, women and local communities. Nand Ghar is the flagship CSR initiative of Vedanta group in association with the Ministry of Women & Child development, GOI under which, a unique concept of modern anganwadis creates the conducive environment for early childhood development (ECD) which includes elements critical to child’s cognitive, social and emotional development.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Joba Manjhi complimented Vedanta for making a difference to the lives of women and children at the grassroot level and Said “It gives me immense pleasure to Inaugurate this Nand Ghar at Dhobil, which is one of its kind a modern, state of the art version of the Anganwadi. It is one of the finest examples of CSR. I am sure this well-equipped Anganwadi Centre will help in upliftment of education facilities at early stages of learning and empowering communities around particularly women from periphery of Dhobil. I appreciate Vedanta for creating this model and urge all the villagers to avail maximum benefits from Nand Ghars.”

Expressing his views about Inauguration of Nandghar at Dhobil, Sauvick Mazumdar, CEO, Iron & Ferro Alloys Business, Vedanta Ltd. said “I am delighted to see that Vedanta’s flagship project Nand Ghar is positively transforming millions of lives across the country which is the vision of Our Chairman Shri. Anil Agarwal. At Vedanta our constant endeavour is to partner & be a major contributor towards the holistic community development across the country ultimately leading to larger goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat & Nation building at large.”

With the rollout of more than 2100 centres already, the Nand Ghar project is now spread across 10 states. The project aims to touch the lives of 4 million community members while directly impacting around 2 lakh children and 1.8 lakh women on an annual basis.

Nand Ghars are equipped with solar panels to ensure 24X7 electricity, water purifiers, clean toilets and smart television sets, and have become a model resource centre for the local communities. Quality pre-school education is provided to children in the age group of 3-6 years. Nutritious meals and take-home rations are being provided for children, pregnant and lactating women. Primary healthcare services are rendered through mobile health vans and women are empowered through skilling, credit linkage and enterprise development.
