Coronavirus has tested human kind on more than one aspects, be it foresight, discipline, decision making, and what not. Because of the sudden and somewhat unexpected lockdown, all of us suffered from fear, loneliness and anxiety but the poor and weaker sections of out society bared the brunt of this situation. The migrants were stuck in lonely places, away from home with not source of income or a way to sustain.
Thousands of people like the dailywage earners found themselves to be unemployed without a warning. And in times like these it becomes the responsibility of us, fellow humans, to help people out.
Serve Samman remaining true to their goals and motives diverted all resources and energy to help those in need. The team worked around the clock to aid the people situated in the Delhi-NCR area.
Cautiously following the proper guidelines of social distancing and other necessary requirements like wearing PPE kits throughout the day.
These social workers were able to distribute a total of:
- 4,812 Dry Rations,
- 57,010 Food Packets (Bislery Water, Tang & chocolates)
- 16,480 Biscuits
- 17,616 Toiletries and other essentials like Masks, Sanitizer and Footwear
The Serve Samman has created in 2012 by Dr. Dipak Khanna, many industrialists and philanthropists are members of this Nonprofit organization. They work for the betterment of the weaker sections of society. Apart from helping in relief work, the NGO has opened many educational centres in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttarkashi in the last decade where they teach children and women vocational courses in order to
help create a better future for themselves.
Health and wellness is another area they focus on, specifically eye care (free cataract surgeries),handicap help, cancer awareness, and hygiene. They have created awareness and health camps in rural areas to educate people.
