JAMSHEDPUR: Tata Steel is participating at the 31st edition of the annual mega trade fair, the India International Trade Fair (IITF) held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 14th-27th November, 2011. Shri Arjun Munda, Chief Minister, Jharkhand; Mr A P Singh, IAS, Secretary, Industry; Ms Vandana Dadel, IAS & Director, Industry, visited the stall put up by Tata Steel at the Jharkhand pavilion. The graceful dignitaries highly appreciated the themes of preservation and promotion of tribal art and culture that the stall primarily focused upon.
The unique feature of Tata Steel’s stall at IITF is the presence of two Dokra artisans from Pundi village in Mandu block of Ramgarh district, crafting intricate handicrafts of this ancient art on iron. The texture of the stall itself resembles a typical tribal house with visuals of tribal design.
In addition to the stall, Tata Steel also showcased its history of steel at the Ministry of Steel pavilion which was visited by Mr S Machendra Nathan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India, who further appreciated the beneficiation of iron ore in its mines and reused material. The stall also focused upon the healthy partnership that Tata Steel nurtures between itself and the state of Jharkhand.
IITF is a major tourist attraction and lakhs of people visit the fair every year. This annual event provides a common platform for the manufacturers, traders, exporters and importers. These represent engineering, software and hardware, automobiles, electronics, telecom, leather, textiles, handicrafts, jewelry, furniture and furnishings besides a wide range of consumer goods.
