In light of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak that has left thousands of people grappling with poverty and food insecurity, Suresh Nanda, Chairman of Claridges Group of Hotels, has joined hands with some non-profit and other organisations in his bid to provide them food aid.
The hotelier collaborated with the NGO South Women Association to offer healthy and safe meals to several daily wage workers and their families.
Leveraging the current crisis into an opportunity to serve the needy, Claridges Chairman, through his chain of hotels, also donated food items to Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi, a Hindu spiritual and religious organisation, which undertakes various charitable and philanthropic activities. These products are to be distributed to the coronavirus-hit victims.
Additionally, Suresh Nanda has taken his philanthropic efforts up a notch by donating a substantial amount of food to Second Chance School, Mahipalpur, Delhi, a school for urban deprived young adults, established by the NGO Ritinjali. This is intended to support the ongoing relief efforts initiated by these organisations all the while serving the poor and needy.
“Our hearts go out to all those who are struggling to make their ends meet during these testing times. We are trying our best to support our employees as well as the communities around us. Though the times are tough, it is important that we help each other in every little way we can,” said Suresh Nanda, who has not just been a hotelier but a strong advocate of philanthropy as well, which can be clearly reflected through his deeds for humanitarian causes.
