ANGUL (Odisha): Umakant Samantray, Asst. Director of Factories & Boilers, Angul Zone conducted an awareness training program on chlorine safety at Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL), Angul in Odisha.
He covered all the aspects of chlorine safety such as effect of Chlorine Gas on human being, first aid measures in case of exposure, mitigating measures in case of emergency situations.
More than 150 staff and workers participated in two such programs. Participants thanked Samantray for his enlightened awareness program.
Samantray reciprocated his thanks to the management of JSPL for it’s sincere efforts being put for improving the health and safety in activities by workers.
Suresh Kumar, Executive Director, Maintenance; Ravi Kant Somani, Group Safety Head along with other section heads were also present in this training program. JSPL Management conveyed thanks to Samantray for his contribution and continual guidance for supporting “ZERO HARM” culture at JSPL.

On this occasion Samantray also inaugurated the AAINAA (Advance Action in Industries to Abate Accidents) at Sinter Plant and Plate Mill and, conducted a competition among Sinter and Plate Mill for best developed AAINAA which was won by Sinter Plant. A competition for near miss reporting was also conducted.
Yogesh Patel (Head, Plate mill), Brij Badhadra (Head, Sinter plant) were also available on this occasion. Navin Gautam (General Manager, Safety) coordinated the program.
