Cybersecurity has become a crucial part of security as the industries are moving towards digitization. Nowadays, a significant portion of data generated across educational institutes, private and government organizations, is kept in the digital space, making it susceptible to cyber threats.

Such critical data must be protected for which industries are on a lookout for skilled personnel who can help secure the data from any potential attacks. In recent years, the demand for cybersecurity professionals has increased exponentially. According to NASSCOM, India will need 1 million cybersecurity professionals by 2020.

To help bridge the gap between demand and availability of cybersecurity professionals, leading institutes now offer cybersecurity training, together with industry exposure and hands-on learning environment. The cybersecurity training helps professionals develop the desired skill set and enhance their job profile.

Here are a few skills that cybersecurity professionals must possess:

SOFT SKILLS

Leadership

Cybersecurity experts show their leadership qualities with their credibility, ethics, and responsiveness. You must earn the trust of your colleagues and management by taking up responsibilities, especially during challenging situations. Apart from being a leader, you also need to have effective communication skills and an understanding of the inherent risks to find better solutions.

Cognitive Thinking

Cognitive skills are crucial as they help you comprehend, process, remember, and apply information. Cybersecurity experts must stay updated with the latest trends and technologies that can be used for risk mitigation or other challenges faced during the work process. You must have a passion for learning every day throughout your cybersecurity training and career.

Adaptability

Cybersecurity experts must adapt themselves as per situation to mitigate risks and find alternate solutions. Being a cybersecurity professional, you need to be flexible in your approach when problems arise. Also, you must have a passion for learning throughout your cybersecurity training and career so that you can improve your responsiveness.

Critical Thinking

You must be able to develop the mindset of a hacker while tackling potential cyber threats. Critical thinking will help you gain insights from a hacker’s perspective and protect the system from vulnerabilities.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Risk Analysis and Mitigation

It is beneficial to recognize threats pre-emptively. Cybersecurity professionals identify risks, monitor defined issues, and identify potential threats on an ongoing basis. Foresight and attention to detail are also crucial for risk analysis and mitigation.

Analytics and Intelligence

A cybersecurity analyst must be able to identify threats by leveraging analytics and intelligence. It is helpful in aggregating networks and application data to prevent attacks from occurring in the future.
Intrusion detection

A single data breach could cost companies a fortune; therefore, intrusion detection software becomes an essential part of securing any network. You can learn this in cybersecurity training to gain expertise in the area.

Malware analysis and reversing

Malware is a severe threat to cybersecurity. Thus, you must develop malware analysis and reversing skills to mitigate any such instances. Undergoing a cybersecurity training helps you strengthen your skills and deal with malware responsively.

Data Protection

The duties of a cybersecurity professional include handling data efficiently while analyzing and securing all types of stored data.

Learn Cybersecurity to grow your career

The skills mentioned above are of paramount importance for a cybersecurity expert. Undergoing cybersecurity training at reputable institutes such as Jigsaw Academy allows you to develop the desired skill set and enhance your job portfolio. These training programs offer the flexibility of online learning with live sessions from industry experts. You will learn about the latest tools and techniques used in solving real-life cyber-attacks.
