NEW DELHI: Dr Hishmi Jamil Husain, a young scientist working in Rio Tinto since a decade has received the prestigious Young Scientist Award of Year 2015.
His name is among the notable alumni of International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University, Aligarh Muslim University, Commission Member of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy and Commission on Education and Communication.
Dr Hishmi is Lead Author for Asia-Pacific Regional Assessment Biodiversity Assessment of Intergovernmental Science Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
He is on board of several national and internal bodies. He is visiting faculty and distinguished speaker in India and aboard on biodiversity conservation, water management, sustainable development, legal compliance, social corporate responsibility and environment management.
The award was conferred on him by Padma Awardee Prof. Dr Randeep Guleria, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and Prof. Dr. A. Ganapathi Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University during Inauguration ceremony of International Conference on Environment & Ecology at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
Considering Dr Hishmi Jamil Husain achievements and outstanding contributions in the field of Environment Management, Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development the INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF International Foundation for Environment and Ecology of the Academy recommended his name for the YOUNG SCIENTIST OF THE YEAR AWARD 2015.
About Dr Hishmi Jamil Husain
Dr Hishmi Jamil Husain is having more than 15 years national and international experience in the field of Environment Management and Sustainable Development. He did Post Graduate Diploma in Universalization of Socio-economic Securities from International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University, (The Hague, The Netherlands), Executive Master in e Governance from EPFL, Lausanne, (Switzerland) and Ph.D in Lithology and Soil Characteristics in Relation to Forest Vegetation of Garhwal Himalaya from Forest Research Institute, University, Dehradun, (India).
For different trainings, studies and research he has visited countries USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, The Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, Spain, Singapore, Estonia, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Sri Lankha Qatar etc. He got several fellowships and recognitions nationally and internationally. His name is among the notable alumni of International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University, Aligarh Muslim University, Commission Member of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy and Commission on Education and Communication, 2015 Young Scientist Awardee and associate member of Government Think Tank on Environment and Development.
