NEW DELHI: With safety on your mind, death dare not touch you! On the same lines as the government campaign, Society of Automotive Manufactures (SIAM) is all set to kick off Road Safety Week from 4th February- 10th February 2019 across the country. In association with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India (MoRTH) and Delhi Police, the week-long initiative will be on the theme Sadak Suraksha – Jeevan Raksha this year.
National Road Safety Week The Inaugural Ceremony will be organised at Rajghat, Ghandhi Smriti where MoRTH will be launching SIAM National Road Safety Year 2019-2020 broucher and it will be followed by Motor Car Rally in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs of India and Rajnath Singh, Minister of Home Affairs of India.
Starting from Delhi, the motor car rally is scheduled to end at Myanmar. It will be supported by Kanishka Sports and participating vehicles are to be provided by Mahindra and Mahindra. National Road Safety Brochures will be distributed to everyone present at the venue.
SIAM in association with Delhi Traffic Police will also be conducting Walkathon at India Gate as a part of this initiative. The itinerary of the week includes Road Safety Driver Training, Health & Eye Check-up Camps for Drivers at 20 Truckers Hub in India, Road Safety workshop organised by the Ministry in every city participating in the event along with the other programs. Also on a stretch of 65KM, one lakh people will be holding hands together to convey the road safety message.
A Seminar on emerging trends on safety on roads will be orgainsed on 5th Feb 2019 at IHC with the association of MoRTH and Delhi Traffic Police which aims to provide training, technical and brainstorming sessions to the people.
