MUMBAI: Godrej Industries has won Award for its community initiative, Godrej EMBODE (Elimination of Mosquito Born Endemic Disease) under the category of Healthcare Support Initiative of the Year.
Vector-borne diseases are a major public health problem in India and Madhya Pradesh faces one of the highest cases of malaria in the country. Godrej in partnership with Family Health India and local NGO’s in Madhya Pradesh worked together to reduce mortality by 100% and morbidity caused by vector borne diseases through information for and education of communities via behavior change communication. Together so far they have reached out to 3000 villages impacting 35,00,000 people through training and volunteering programmes, chaupal sessions, nutrition support and mosquito repellent products supplies etc.
Dr Vikas Goswami, Head, Good and Green and Godrej Industries and Associate Companies Ltd. received this award from Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways at a spectacular event held yesterday in New Delhi.
Talking about the award Dr. Vikas Goswami said,“At Godrej we have always actively championed social responsibility this award is a testimony of our efforts towards community development and our commitment to create Malaria free India. Giving back to our communities is important and with the help of collaboration and partnership, we in Godrej wish to improve knowledge and community action towards prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of Malaria and Dengue at the household and community level”
