NEW DELHI: The valedictory ceremony of IICA Certificate Programme (ICP) in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – Batch II, will be organised at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs campus at Manesar on 17th May, 2017. Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal will grace the occasion and give away the certificates.

The programme also includes a vibrant panel discussion on the role of CSR professionals in delivering impactful CSR with participation drawn from Government of India, Corporate India and also from Civil Society Organizations.

IICA Certificate Programme (ICP) in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a 9 months intensive online course with a course curriculum that is a balanced mix of theory and practise, covering global & Indian definitions, practices and applications of CSR. Relevant case studies and sectoral gap analysis compendiums form an integral part of the dynamic and evolving content of the programme. The major thrust of the course is to deal with the developments/issues and challenges in CSR post 2013 legislation.

The course is delivered through a user-friendly Learning Management System (LMS), with appropriate reinforcement provided through contact classes and periodic assessments. Each student is provided a dedicated IICA certified trainer at the nearest Study Center/Partner institution. The programme has so far certified 170 CSR professionals in 2015, and another 130 students are currently undergoing the programme as part of Batch 2, which would be completed within Financial Year 2016-17.

The 1st batch which concluded in July 2015 had participants amongst others from companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, PepsiCo, Tata Capital, Help Age India, NTPC, ONGC, BHEL, BSE, Titan etc. The 2nd batch also has participants from reputed companies like IOCL, ONGC, HAL, BEL, NTPC, Cisco, IBM, etc., to name a few.

With the passing of the Companies Act 2013, Corporate Social Responsibility has come into sharper focus in the country. In the last two  years, on an average around 8000 companies took part in CSR activities each year. On an average around 9000 crores have been spent every year on various CSR activities listed in Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013.In FY 2015-16, there has been considerable jump in CSR expenditure as compared to FY 2014-15. As per MCA database, the total expenditure on CSR activities has increased from 8851 crores to over 9000 crores from only 5097 companies. The data from more number of companies are still pouring in.

The ICP in CSR online course is being implemented by the National Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs had established the NFCSR at Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in April, 2012.  The vision of NFCSR is to build an enabling environment for the corporate sector to work in partnership with the Government, Non-Government and Civil Society Organizations, as well as local community organizations for effective contribution towards sustainable growth and development.

The foundation has an independent governing structure, managed by a Steering Committee, and an Advisory Board and a Secretariat to work on a day-to-day basis.

One of the mandates of NFCSR is to provide research, training, practice, capacity building, standard setting, advocacy, rating, monitoring, recognition and related support in the field of CSR. Under this mandate NFCSR had launched the IICA Certificate Programme (ICP) in CSR in the year 2014.  This course also helped the need to meet the burgeoning demand for trained CSR professionals in the corporate, public and NGO sectors, in light of the new provisions regarding CSR which took effect from 1.04.2014.

Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) is an autonomous organisation working under the aegis of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Set up as the premier organisation that aims at providing credible intellectual leadership in corporate regulation, governance and running sustainable businesses, IICA is a capacity development and service delivery institute. The institute works through a network of Schools and Centres based in its campus at Manesar in Haryana.
