MUMBAI: From March 23-25, you have the opportunity to save lives of people by the simple act of donating blood. SABIC, in collaboration with BloodConnect has organized its annual blood donation drive across India from 10th February to 25th March, 2017. Under this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative, SABIC is aiming to promote health and save lives across the country.

According to doctors and the American Red Cross, a single blood donation can save the lives of up to three people. The final set of camps are being conducted from March 23-25 at convenient camps near residential areas, at workplace or an area near the workplace to give people the opportunity to save lives of people by the simple act of donating blood.

SABIC, in collaboration with BloodConnect, invites professionals and residents to be part of a week-long blood donation drive covering various locations in Delhi NCR. The spirit of this campaign is based on crowd sourcing model of Corporate Social Responsibility by organizing convenient camps at residential areas, workplace or an area near the workplace and encouraging people to make blood donation a habit.

Detail of the camps which are lined up are as follows.

Event: Blood donation drive by SABIC in collaboration with BloodConnect

Date: March 23-25, 2017

Time: 10.00 AM – 5.00 PM

Venues:

Date Location
March 23 ·       Janakpuri RWA
March 24 ·       Corporate Towers II, Ambience Island, Gurgaon
March 25 ·       Ambience Mall, Gurgaon

WHO estimates that blood donations by 1 percent of a country’s population can help meet its basic requirements for blood (Source: WHO’s “Towards 100% Voluntary Blood Donation: A Global Framework for Action”[1]). However, India falls short by 3 million units annually; this could be addressed if 2 percent more Indians donated blood[2].

SABIC, in collaboration with BloodConnect, has organized a month-long blood donation drive to encourage young professionals and community members in Delhi NCR to participate in this worthy cause.

From March 22, donors can visit blood donation buses at various locations around Delhi NCR, while on March 24, they can donate blood at an air-conditioned camp at Ambience Island, Corporate Towers II and on March 25 at a camp in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon.

BloodConnect is a youth run NGO, which works to tackle the problem of blood shortage in the country. An establishment in 2010, BloodConnect is of a belief that youth combined together can alone solve the problem of blood in India. Having worked with 50 colleges across 20 cities, BloodConnect ensures that the youth puts up a united front and can become a stakeholder in the process.
