MUMBAI: The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which carry on the momentum generated by the Millennium Development Goals, drives the global development agenda to be achieved by 2030.
To deliberate on the possible way forward to achieve the ambitious and inclusive 2030 Agenda and reflect on opportunities to renew and integrate efforts to meet these aspirations, 4th Wheel is launching a workshop series on ‘Exploring the SDGs in India’.
“We understand that an integrated approach to supporting progress across the multiple goals is crucial for achieving them. The workshop series hopes to facilitate discussions on how organisations can support communication of the new agenda, strengthen partnerships for implementation, and fill in the gaps in available data for monitoring and review.”, said 4th Wheel, organizer of the event.
Kicking-off the event series on November 26th, 4th Wheel with support from the Swedish Institute is organizing the first problem-solving workshop on SDG 17 – ‘Strengthening the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for development’.
The event shall bring together representatives of, and influential development actors from the public, private and third sector to jointly solve ground-reality challenges of three development actors (Social Enterprise, NGO and Corporate) working to achieve the goals and assess in-depth, the dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals. Three organisations from the three sectors have been identified to represent and deliberate on the challenges listed below.

Challenge 1: How can we strengthen the evaluation system of the social enterprise?
Challenge 2: How can we incentivise multi-stakeholder partnerships for the corporate?
Challenge 3: How can we harness the power of technology for the NGO?
The event will take place on 26 of November 2016 from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm at Of 10 in Powai, Mumbai.
It will consist of a program of activities – by enthusiasts for enthusiasts – where everyone is a shaper. It applies design-thinking methods to overcome fixedness and limitations caused by hierarchy and formality, leveraging creativity potential and declaring human values as a key working principle.
During break-out sessions participants will brainstorm on key challenges and put down all possible ideas on post-its. The groups will then evaluate different ideas and further focus on most promising solutions. Eventually, problem-solving products and services are designed and presented to the rest of the group. In addition, several engaging activities that promote knowledge exchange and networking shall complement the program.
The 17 SDGs are all high-level aspirations and we have to turn them into practical realities based on feedback gained from constantly measuring success. Will you be part of this discussion?
