ANGUL: Celebration of 70th Independence Day has been very special for villagers in periphery areas, workers, employees and their family members of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL)’s Angul unit. For the first time ever, Chairman of Flag Foundation of India and Chairman of JSPL, Naveen Jindal hoisted the national flag at the premise of O.P. Jindal School in presence of more than thousand people.
In his address to the audience, Shri Jindal said, “Independent is not just being free from bondage; it is about moving forward to achieve social and economic development to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth in the quality of life of common man. This is the real time for convergence, coordination and cooperation amongst all the stakeholders to draw synergy from each other and march forward to vindicate India’s position to the global leader”.
He also highlighted achievement by different units of JSPL at various locations of India and abroad. “In spite of challenging industrial scenario, JSPL has achieved many milestones. These achievements will not only strengthen JSPL, but also will contribute to ‘make in India’ mission. JSPL, as an industrial group, is contributing towards progress of the nation and will continue to do so in future”, he added.
Jindal walk around the audience and shook hands with the community members and the students and wished them for a better future. He also posed for few selfie on request of students and others.
At Angul, Group Director (HR) Rajeev Bhadauria, Executive Director (I/c) & Location Head D.K. Saraogi and Executive Director (Projects) Bharat Rohra, honoured the high achievers of various departments with cash awards.
EVP & Unit Head (Barbil) TS Shanbhogue, AVP & Unit Head (Tensa) Y Nagendra and AVP- B P Mishra hoisted the tricolour at Barbil, Tensa and Bhubaneswar, respectively. Employees & workers for their outstanding performances throughout the year were felicitated on the occasion at different units.
Students of O.P. Jindal School & DAV Savitri Jindal High School performed scintillating cultural programme at Angul. Similarly, Jindal School and O P Jindal Community College at Barbil also presented patriotic cultural programme at Barbil.
Like every year, in order to reach the school children in local area, JSPL Foundation distributed sweets among 19981 children of 70 local schools and 65 Anganwadi Centres in 19 Gram Panchayats in Angul to share the happiness and glories of Independence Day.
While senior functionaries like Prashant Kumar Hota, Gautam Chandra, Damodar Mittal, CD Mathew, SK Sharma, Ashish Pandey attended the Independence Day celebration ceremony at Angul Unit. V C S Rao, Alok Malhotra with other senior officials graced the occasion at Barbil Unit.
