ANGUL: Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) Angul Unit celebrated the World Environment Day-2015 with a series of awareness and plantation drive on its plant premises and in nearby villages.
Celebration started with a marathon rally in the morning flagged off by Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, Executive Director and Location Head, JSPL Angul Unit.
More than 500 persons including family members of employees, local community and all the employees participated in this marathon, which was followed by a massive plantation drive at various locations of the plant and its periphery.
“Protection of Environment has significant importance for survival of human and animal life in this planet. JSPL as a Corporate Organisation is committed towards protecting the environment that makes life safer and easier for both its workers and the community as a whole” said Saraogi addressing Communities, Employees, Kids & Ladies Club Members.
Different awareness programmes have been organised to raise awareness about environment protection. An online quiz has been organised among its employees on the theme of World Environment Day.
Similarly, essay, slogan and drawing competitions were also organised among school children from nearby schools. Winners of the Competition were awarded by Saraogi during the celebration. In the Watershed project area an awareness programme on soil conservation has been held.
